Groundwater and ground conditions to consider before installing engineered wood floors

Before installing engineered wood floors, the following groundwater and ground conditions need to be considered:

1. Groundwater table: Knowing the groundwater table is very important, especially in areas with low ground or close to water sources. If the ground water table is high, it may cause the floor to get wet, swell and deform. In this case, you should choose wood with high moisture resistance, and take moisture-proof measures, such as using moisture-proof pads or waterproof coatings.

2. Ground flatness: The flatness of the ground is very important for the installation of wooden floors. Uneven floors can cause floor installations to be weak or uneven. Before installation, the flatness of the ground should be carefully checked and repaired or adjusted as necessary. Self-leveling concrete or mortar can be used to fill in depressions or unevenness in the floor.

3. Ground stability: It is also important to ensure the stability of the ground. If the ground is loose or unstable, wooden floors may be noisy or have bottom warping. Before installation, the stability of the floor should be checked and if necessary reinforced, for example by adding suitable floor foundation material.

4. Moisture protection measures: If the groundwater content is high or the ground humidity is high, additional moisture protection measures may be required. A moisture-proof membrane can be laid in the ground before the floor is installed to block the infiltration of groundwater. In addition, it is also important to ensure the proper functioning of the underground drainage system.

Before proceeding with engineered wood flooring installation, it is important to carefully assess and address groundwater and ground conditions. This ensures a solid wood floor installation, durability and prevents moisture problems. If necessary, it is recommended to consult a professional floor installer or supplier for more accurate guidance and advice.
